From countryside retreats to seaside ports, these are our favorite small towns in each state.

Prattville, Alabama

Chock-full of historic buildings, this small town is set on the Autauga Creek, which proved to be a crucial location for its early beginnings as an industrial center. Nicknamed "The Fountain City" for its many artesian wells, this small town is now a popular destination for golfers. Stop by the old historic locations, like the Bell House and Buena Vista, or play a round of golf at a nearby course.

Skagway, Alaska

Come to Stockbridge in the holiday season and you’ll find out for yourself, when snow falls on the ground and vintage decorations add color to the streets. Not only an inspiration for music, artist Norman Rockwell painted several Berkshires scenes.

Saugatuck, Michigan
